I’m biased because I didn’t change my name and never intend to, but I’m not insisting that women do anything other than what they are comfortable with. (However, If anyone is interested: “Against the name change: a polemic” by Silvana at Bitch Ph.D.)
Men, it’s not up to you to “insist” anything when it comes to women changing their name after getting married. If she wants to do it, fine. But you “insisting” is shitty thing to do. Marriage is so much more than a fucking name.
In other news, 44% of men can freaking bite me.
I just asked A what he thinks about this question. at the word ‘married’ his eyes got very wide and he said ‘aaaargh’. I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.
i have no problem with a woman, (or a man, for that matter) changing her last name after getting married. i am 99.99% certain that i would never change my last name, but that’s largely due to the fact that i have a fucking awesome last name.
i do hope that the 44% of dudes who would “insist” that their potential wives change their last names don’t ever get married & don’t ever ever procreate. just sayin’.
I changed my last name because Justin’s was cooler but he knew if he had a douche last name I wouldn’t change it.
